NIS America, from Santa Ana, dated the launch note 27 August 2026. Brigandine Abyss is on Steam as of 26 August, and on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as of the 27th. Xbox is digital only. The Switch 2 digital day in New Zealand and Australia is 28 August. Anime News Network ran the press the morning the consoles opened. It is a strategy RPG that actually shipped, in a series that had to be revived once already.

The last proper revival was Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia, in 2020. RPGamer’s July preview treated Abyss as the follow-up, not a remaster of that one. The continent is new. Meltitea is the name. Hundreds of years ago, the press says, the arcane Brigandine stopped the Abyssloa Empire. A new Abyssloa rises. You pick a side and try to live through that. Happinet’s official first trailer is on the page.

Story Mode is six campaigns. NIS America’s sentence: find out the truth, or keep it hidden. RPGFan, filing after release, named some of the six. Scarlet Will is a mercenary company loyal to a king, on the run with a princess. Gran Dragnica is young dragon tamers angry at how Abyssloa treats their kin. Pandemyuon is a mad scientist and a band of human experiments. The Abyssloa origin, as that review laid out the lore, starts in the Kingdom of Solginat, taken over by a scheming advisor corrupted by a dark force called Abyss. The names are how a reader tells the six campaigns apart.

Mission Mode is the other carton. Twenty-four factions, each with its own win condition. Play one or play them all, NIS wrote. RPGamer said the twenty-four include the story six and everyone else on the map. Win conditions, from the guides that went up on launch day, are not all “paint the continent.” Some want the whole map before a season clock runs out. Some want bases strengthened, monsters collected, allies recruited, a debt paid, a stronghold held. That is why Mission Mode is the replay machine and Story Mode is the guided one. Gran Dragnica and Scarlet Will are the beginner-friendly story starts in those same launch-day primers. Those primers are launch-day guides, not a walkthrough here.

Every turn, in both modes, is three phases. Organization: recruit, power up, equip, upgrade bases, send optional quests. Attack: point at a stronghold. Invasion: the hex fight. NIS America’s launch note puts those three words in that order. RPGamer’s July session watched a later Samura Clan story mission: Organization first, then a hexagonal battle on a map with a river and several bridges, the player’s army betrayed by allies. Event Battles are the new glue. They have scenes before and during combat, and they let you pull any squad regardless of where it is sitting on the world map. Most maps, the preview said, pit three of your squads against three of theirs. The story specials go to six opposing squads.

A squad is a human leader and up to five monsters, paid for in Command Points. Level a monster and it can class-up: more stats, more skills, more Command Point cost. Kill the leader and the rest of that squad retreats. Kill the monsters first if you want the experience and if you want the other side to pay to resurrect them later. Magic, in the preview battle, always hits. Height now matters for range and movement, which is a gift to flying and ranged units. Monsters can peel off their leader without the old penalty, which means they can walk over and join another squad. Rally is the other new verb: a monster stops acting on its own, sticks to the leader, and donates a passive — knockback, an element on the weapon, a defensive bump, an extra action. Every unit has its own Rally traits. That is Happinet’s mechanical sentence for 2026. The 2020 game did not have it.

Happinet is the developer and licensor on the NIS note. RPGFan names Adglobe, the Ender Lilies and Ender Magnolia room, as the studio Happinet brought back for this one. Both names belong on the page. NIS America, the Southern California subsidiary of Nippon Ichi Software since 2003, is the North American publisher. The Limited Edition is $89.99, Switch 2 or PlayStation 5, with Art from the Abyss, Anthems of War, Storied Figures acrylic stands, a Faction Symbol pin set, and a cloth map of Meltitea. The Nintendo Download for the week of 27 August listed the standard download at $49.99. Two prices, two cartons. A PlayStation Store price was not in the Anime News Network note.

A PC demo sat on Steam through July. The console demo, RPGamer said, was due 30 July. Steam’s full launch is 26 August worldwide and 27 August in Japan. Consoles are 27 August, local time, worldwide the same calendar day. Australia waited until 28 August for Switch 2 digital. That one-day lag is the only geography worth labouring. A player in Adelaide who wanted the handheld copy got it Friday. A player on PC got it Wednesday. The hexes do not change.

NIS America’s launch note still mentions Trails through Daybreak at the bottom. That is boilerplate, not this game. Brigandine Abyss is a 2020 revival’s 2026 sequel, a new continent, six stories, twenty-four mission flags, three phases, a Rally button, a hex grid that now cares about height, Event Battles that pull squads off the map, a $49.99 download and an $89.99 box of objects, Happinet and Adglobe, NIS in Santa Ana, Steam on Wednesday, consoles on Thursday, this country on Friday.

The launch trailer Happinet posted is still up. The prices are in the paragraph with the Limited Edition. Meltitea opened last week. A series which had to be revived in 2020 now has a second continent to lose, and its first port onto Switch 2.
