Samsung’s S26 FE is first in the family onto One UI 9

Samsung Electronics announced Galaxy S26 FE on 27 August 2026. It is the first phone in the Galaxy S26 lineup to ship with One UI 9 on Android 17. The UK, global, and US newsrooms posted the same family of specs the same day.

The phone goes on sale from 4 September in select markets, in Blueberry, Graphite, and Pistachio. The numbers below are Samsung’s. The company did not put a price on those pages.

27 August is the announcement. 4 September is the on-sale line in select markets. The three colours Samsung named are Blueberry, Graphite and Pistachio. One UI 9 is the software. Android 17 is the base. First in the S26 family to launch on that pairing is Samsung’s own sentence, printed on the UK, global and US newsroom pages. The sentence is reprinted. Samsung did not put a dollar, a pound or an Australian dollar on those pages, so there is no street price here.

The display is a 17 cm FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X, 120 Hz refresh, 60 or 120, 1,900 nits. The chassis is 161.6 by 76.9 by 7.4 millimetres. The weight is 193 grams. A Fan Edition that still carries a 17 cm panel and a 7.4 millimetre thickness is the product Samsung is selling as thin and light inside the S26 family. Thin and light is Samsung’s phrase. 193 grams is the mass.

Cameras, as Samsung tabulated them. Ultra-wide: 12 megapixels, F2.2, 123-degree field. Wide: 50 megapixels, OIS, F1.8, 84-degree field. Telephoto: 8 megapixels, 3x optical, up to 30x digital, OIS, F2.4, 32-degree field. Front: 12 megapixels, F2.2, 85-degree field. Four named modules. 3x is optical. 30x is digital. Thirty-times digital is a table entry, not a wildlife claim. The wide module is the 50-megapixel one with optical image stabilisation. The telephoto is the 8-megapixel 3x. The ultra-wide and the front camera share a 12-megapixel, F2.2 specification and sit a degree apart in field of view, 123 against 85.

The processor is Exynos 2500, listed as a 3-nanometre application processor. Memory and storage on the UK and global tables: 8 gigabytes with 128, 256, or 512 gigabytes. The US newsroom table lists 8 plus 128 and 8 plus 256 and notes that storage options vary by carrier and region. Both tables belong on the page. Samsung did not list a 12-gigabyte SKU. Actual available storage varies with pre-installed software — Samsung’s footnote, kept on.

Battery is 4,900 milliamp-hours. Charging is 45 watts wired. The UK page says up to 70 percent in around 30 minutes with the 45 W adapter. The global and US pages say up to 69 percent in around 30 minutes. Two newsrooms, one minute of difference in the percentage. Both figures are Samsung’s, and both are labelled. 15 W fast wireless charging. Wireless PowerShare. Those are Samsung’s charging lines, not a lab run here, and not a battery-life hours number the company did not print.

Connectivity on the table: 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 5.4. Galaxy AI is named on the announcement as more context-aware. The hardware table plus the software name is the story on 27 August. A longer Galaxy AI feature dump belongs to a software note. 28 August’s One UI 9 beta update for the S26 series is a separate item.

What the 27 August pages are not is as useful as what they are. They are not a US dollar, a UK pound, or an Australian dollar. They are not a carrier list for 4 September. They are not a comparison chart against S26 and S26 Ultra. Select markets is Samsung’s geography. 4 September is Samsung’s date. Blueberry, Graphite and Pistachio are Samsung’s colours. Exynos 2500 is Samsung’s silicon name. 193 grams is Samsung’s mass. The rest of the S26 family is not this product.

A Fan Edition, in Samsung’s own history, is the S-series camera and software brought to a slightly different chassis and a slightly later calendar. This year the calendar trick is software: FE is first to One UI 9. The rest of the S26 family can wait for its own pages. This one is the FE table. 17 cm. 1,900 nits. 120 Hz. 7.4 millimetres. 193 grams. 4,900 mAh. 45 W. 69 or 70 percent in thirty minutes, depending which newsroom you hold. 50 megapixels on the wide. 3x on the tele. 8 GB of RAM. Up to 512 GB where the UK and global tables say so, and 128 or 256 GB on the US row.

27 August was a Thursday. The announcement is printed on Sunday 30 August, three days later, because the newsroom pages are still up. 4 September is still the on-sale line. Select markets are still select. The colours have not been withdrawn. One UI 9 has not been taken off the FE. Android 17 is still the listed base. Nothing in the three-day gap added a price.

This is a gadgets story, not a foundry story. Exynos 2500 as a 3-nanometre name is as far into the wafer as the page will go. Samsung did not print a street price, a battery-life hours number, or a camera sample shot here, so none of those appear here. A product announcement is news when it has a date, a name, and a table. Galaxy S26 FE has all three. The date is 27 August. The name is on the newsroom headline. The table is under it.
