Capcom put Devil May Cry 5 Devil Hunter Edition on a Nintendo Switch 2 cart on 28 August. The Osaka press note on PR TIMES is timestamped 11:22 that Friday. The verb is “today.” Digital has been on the eShop since 23 June. Friday is the plastic.
Capcom’s own box, as the Friday note printed it: Nintendo Switch 2, stylish action, CERO D for ages 17 and up, official site devilmaycry.com/5dhe. Suggested retail is 3,990 yen including tax, the same number on the download and on the package. That is Capcom Japan’s ticket, not a converted guess. The Friday note is a shipping report. It is not a review.
The edition is the 2019 game plus the extras that used to sit in a shop. Capcom’s English overview, filed through Gematsu on 9 June, names the list: Nero, Dante, V and Vergil; costume colours; taunts; battle tracks; the Vergil playable-character download. Nintendo’s Direct on 9 June added Devil Breaker weapons for Nero to that list. TV mode and handheld both carry Capcom’s 60 frames-per-second claim. There is no dock meter reading here. The claim is Capcom’s, dated, and it is the reason a handheld night is the news.

Sunday 23 August was the other date in the same week. Capcom’s Friday note says the Devil May Cry series marked 25 years on that Sunday, 23 August 2026. A 2001 first game, a 2026 Sunday, a Friday cart. The anniversary is not a DLC. It is a calendar fact Capcom put in the same release as the package. The cart did not wait for a Direct. It arrived five days after the birthday.
The digital version launched on 23 June 2026. Capcom’s investor release on 10 June had already named both dates: download 23 June, physical 28 August. Gematsu, 9 June, 10:24 a.m. Eastern, carried the English overview the same week as the Direct. Players who bought the download by 7 July 2026 were eligible for a discount, Capcom said in that overview. Saiga NAK, reprinting the English product sheet, put the manufacturer’s suggested retail at $39.99, and the digital price at $29.99 until 1 August 2026, 12:59 p.m. GMT+9. Those dollars are labelled as Saiga NAK’s sheet. The yen on Friday is Capcom’s. There is no Australian dollar converted from either number.
A cart on a Friday is logistics. A household that will not keep an eShop account can still take Red Grave on a train. A shop that sells plastic can put the hunters on a shelf. Five Star Games in Australia dated the disc 28 August, MA15+, and named Big W, EB Games, JB Hi-Fi and The Gamesmen as the local doors. Capcom’s Osaka note did not print those four shops. The Australian importer did. MA15+ is the Australian sticker and CERO D is the Japanese one. They are two ratings on one SKU, not a disagreement.
Devil May Cry 5 first shipped on 8 March 2019 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC via Steam, Gematsu’s 9 June recap says. Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition followed on Xbox Series on 10 November 2020 and on PlayStation 5 on 12 November 2020. For six years a Nintendo household could not take that walk. 23 June put it on the eShop. 28 August put it in a box. The walk did not change. The plastic did.
Capcom’s 10 June investor release is the dated sales page. Devil May Cry 5 had sold more than 11.2 million units worldwide as of 31 March 2026. The series, since 2001, had sold more than 38 million as of the same day. The Friday PR TIMES note, four months later, called the series a property with more than 40 million copies. Those are two Capcom sentences with two dates. Both stay on the page. There is no month-by-month bridge. Japan Game Awards 2019 and The Game Awards 2019 are the prizes Capcom named for the 2019 game. They are why a 2019 object was worth carrying onto a 2026 handheld, not a reason to rerun an awards night.
The four hunters are Capcom’s cast, named in the Friday note, not a living-person gallery. Nero is the young hunter in the mobile shop, a Devil Breaker on the right arm, a sword in the other. Capcom says the Breaker grabs, pulls, throws, and also works as a way to move; it can throw lightning and stop time. Dante is the older hunter, half-demon, sword and two pistols, and Capcom says defeated enemies become other melee objects, up to a motorcycle. Devil Trigger is the named transformation. V is the client on the job, three familiars — Shadow, Griffon, Nightmare — and a cane for the last blow when a demon is already down. Capcom is blunt that V’s own fight is thin. Vergil is Dante’s twin, the Yamato in his hands, playable in this edition instead of locked behind a later shop. Costume colours, taunts and battle tracks sit with him in the same package. Those are objects in a box. They are not a season pass dated past Friday.
Red Grave City is the 2019 map. Capcom’s Friday story paragraph puts the invasion some years after the Order of the Sword, a demon tree taking root, Nero and partner Nico in the motorhome, Dante drawn back, V with the commission. This is a shipping report, not a plot recap. The names are here because they are on the package. A boss list is not. Nico’s Devil Breakers are why a mechanical arm sits in the art and not a face. The art on this page is a still-life. It is not a screenshot of a hunter.
Sixty frames in both modes is the hardware sentence. Capcom repeated it on 10 June, on 9 June through Gematsu, in the Direct, and again on 28 August. “Anytime, anywhere” is the phrase. A 2019 action game lives or dies on the gap between a thumb and a sword. Capcom was willing to put 60 on the handheld as well as the television. There is no handheld resolution, docked resolution, or reconstruction note from a recap channel. The official tape is the 28 August launch trailer on YouTube, id -T3z6iS_LxI, the one Capcom’s Friday note pointed at with the English title “Launch Trailer | Nintendo Switch 2.” The Direct clip from 9 June, id MOYl5Oz4nQk, is the June promise. Friday is the cart. The June tape is how a living room heard the date. The August tape is how the shop heard that the date had arrived.
Netflix is the other weather in the same Capcom week, and it is not the cart. The 10 June investor note said the animated series had appeared in the Global Top 10 for four weeks across two seasons. Season 1, 2025, 21.7 million views. Season 2, streaming from May 2026, 6.4 million views in two weeks. Season 3 is announced as the final chapter. The Friday note repeats that Season 2 is on Netflix and that Season 3 is in production. Capcom’s phrase for the whole arrangement is Single Content Multiple Usage. A viewer on a couch is not a reason to bury the cart. It is why a 25-year series still had a shop window on a Friday in August. The news remains the box.
Capcom Co., Ltd. sits at 3-1-3 Uchihiranomachi, Chuo-ku, Osaka. Haruhiro Tsujimoto is named president and COO on the 10 June release, TSE Prime code 9697. Public relations telephone on that page is +81-6-6920-3623. Those are the company lines a shipping report is allowed to carry. The publisher of record on the cart is Capcom. The machine is Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo Switch is Nintendo’s trademark, as the June release was careful to say.
What Friday is not. It is not a new campaign. It is not a new engine. It is not a frame-rate we measured. It is not a $29.99 sticker in August; that digital window closed on 1 August according to the English sheet Saiga NAK printed. It is not a PlayStation or Xbox SKU; those machines had the game in 2019 and the Special Edition in 2020. It is the first time this 11.2-million-copy 2019 object has been a Nintendo cart. Digital in June made it a Nintendo download. Friday made it an object you can hold.
What 28 August is: Capcom, Osaka, PR TIMES 11:22, Nintendo Switch 2, Devil May Cry 5 Devil Hunter Edition, package on sale, 3,990 yen tax in, CERO D, 60 frames on the television and in the hand, Nero and Dante and V and Vergil, Devil Breakers and Yamato and three familiars, costume colours, taunts, battle tracks, official site devilmaycry.com/5dhe, a series that turned 25 on Sunday 23 August, a download that has been live since 23 June, 11.2 million for the 2019 game as of 31 March, 38 million for the series on the June filing and more than 40 million in the August sentence, Japan Game Awards 2019, The Game Awards 2019, Netflix as weather, a launch trailer on YouTube, a cart on a shelf. Named dates. Named yen. Named machines. The hunters fit in a box, and the box arrived on Friday.
